The upcoming 10th season of What Not to Wear, a TLC institution, will be its last
What Not to Wear co-host Stacey London says the show transformed her life
One of cable TV’s reality institutions is coming to an end with TLC’s announcement that Season 10 of What Not to Wear will be the makeover show’s last.
The final season will kick off in July on Friday nights, with a concluding run of episodes promising “more dramatic transformations, bigger ambushes, shopping sprees on a grander scale, and special guest appearances.”
That sort of “bigger! grander! more dramatic!” emphasis is a sign of where TLC has gone in the 10 years since Wear established itself as one of the network’s signature shows. These days, TLC is all about Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.
“After 10 incredible seasons, we felt that it was the right time to end the series,” TLC general manager Amy Winter said in a statement.
“This show changed me and the trajectory of my life,” added co-host Stacy London. “I’ve learned so much from all of our contributors over the years. I hope we touched them as much as they touched me. I hope we touched our viewers.”
And co-host Clinton Kelly (currently also a host on ABC’s daytime talk show The Chew) said: “Hosting What Not to Wear has been a life-changing experience. When I got the job, I told everyone I knew that we’d probably do 10 episodes, get canceled and I’d go crawling back to my old job in magazine publishing. So, I’m more surprised than anyone that we’ve lasted this long.”
