The rumor mill has been oddly quiet recently as it relates to The X Factor. Well this ought to get things going again. Rihanna is apparently the next pop star being considered for the judges’ table.
HollywoodLife.com is reporting that the Umbrella singer has started negotiations to fill one of the two vacant seats between Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid. RiRi was a guest mentor on the singing competition during Season 1 and certainly has the industry credibility and appeal that producers are looking for.
In equally interesting news, the site is saying that negotiations with Britney Spears are “pretty much dead,” according to a source. Brit had been holding out for a bigger pay day than the $10 million they reportedly offered her. The other sticking point is producers were apparently looking for a two-year commitment while Spears was reportedly looking for an out after one year.
If Spears is, in fact, gone from the process, she joins recent decliners including Fergie and Janet Jackson.
