What to Watch This Week: September 20 to 25

From reality reunions to animated premieres, we round up the top 10 shows to watch this week

1. Becoming – Disney+

10 new episodes of this docuseries from producers LeBron James and Maverick Carter are now available to stream on Disney+. The series chronicles the inspirational life stories of world class entertainers, musicians and athletes, with each episode following a different celebrity back to their hometown as they revisit memorable locations that were central to their upbringing. Family members, coaches, teachers, mentors and close friends share significant, personal memories of the subjects before they hit it big. Among the stars profiled in this new batch of episodes are Ashley Tisdale and Rob Gronkowski.

2. Celebrity Family Feud – Sunday, September 20, 11:36 p.m., ABC; Thursday, September 24, 8 p.m., City & ABC

The Feud returns with a special Sunday episode. First up: a clash of sitcom bros, as Ray Romano takes on Brad Garrett, followed by Weezer versus Fall Out Boy feat. Seth Green. Another new instalment on Thursday pits Kathie Lee Gifford against Ricki Lake, and 2 Chainz versus Big Boi.

3. 60 Minutes – Sunday, September 20, 7 p.m., Global & CBS | Season Premiere

Still as vital as ever, the iconic newsmagazine series heads into its 53rd season, returning at a particularly fraught time in American history. As always, viewers will put their trust in tenacious correspondents Lesley Stahl, Scott Pelley, Anderson Cooper, Bill Whitaker, John Dickerson, Sharyn Alfonsi and Jon Wertheim to shine light at the darkness and add some illumination and insight to the week’s most talked-about news stories.

4. Filthy Rich – Monday, September 21, 9 p.m., CTV & Fox | Series Premiere

Kim Cattrall heads up the cast of this soapy dramedy, starring as the wife of a ridiculously wealthy televangelist (Gerald McRaney) whose unexpected death reveals he fathered some illegitimate children, all included as heirs in his will, making an already complicated dynamic even more so.

5. Enola Holmes – Wednesday September 23, Netflix | Series Premiere

Sherlock may get all the press, but as we’ll see in this new Netflix movie, Enola Holmes is the real brains of the family. Stranger Things‘ Millie Bobby Brown stars as the teen sleuth, who sets out to find her missing mother (Helena Bonham Carter)—thoroughly outsmarting brothers Sherlock (Henry Cavill) and Mycroft (Sam Claflin) along the way.

6. Archer – Wednesday, September 23, 7 p.m. & 10 p.m., Adult Swim | Season Premiere

For the past couple of seasons, FX’s Archer has ventured into several different realms that bore virtually no resemblance to the world in which the animated spy series was originally set, with season eight putting its foul-mouthed ensemble into a 1940s film-noir setting, season nine doing an homage to Raiders of the Lost Ark and season 10 blasting off on a space adventure. At the end of that last season, however, Sterling Archer woke up. That’s right: the previous few years had been nothing more than fantasies flitting around in his comatose mind.

One of the first things Archer discovers upon his return is that, in his absence, fellow spies have actually been thriving, everyone cleaning up their act to the point that they have little to no tolerance for Archer’s immature, unprofessional shenanigans. But if you think Archer’s going to follow their lead, straighten up and fly right… well, you obviously don’t know Sterling Archer all that well.

Continuing the show’s trend of attracting big-name talent for guest spots, season 11 will welcome Mission: Impossible‘s Simon Pegg and the great Jamie Lee Curtis in as-yet-undisclosed roles.

7. I Can See Your Voice – Wednesday, September 23, 9:01 p.m., Global & Fox | Series Premiere

Based on a South Korean format, this wacky new game show—hosted by The Masked Singer‘s Ken Jeong—tasks contestants with trying to determine the difference between good and bad singers, without ever hearing them sing a single note. Instead, they must rely on lip-sync challenges, comedic hidden clues and true-or-false evidence provided by a panel of celebrity comedians/experts and one musical superstar. At the end of each episode, the singer whom the contestant selected will reveal if they are good or bad in a duet performance with the aforementioned superstar. If the chosen singer can hold a tune, the contestant will receive a special reward, but if the singer is tone-deaf, they will receive a cash prize. Given that only one episode was shot prior to the pandemic shutdown, look for subsequent episodes to feature contestants and panellists practising social distancing, along with the complete lack of a studio audience.

8. The Real Housewives of New York City – Thursday, September 24, 6 p.m. & 9 p.m., Slice

After watching those perfectly manicured claws come out all season long (and then again during parts one and two of this annual reunion), is it really any wonder that Dorinda Medley has opted out of continuing as one of the Housewives next season? She and the other ladies are sure to dig into that, as well as Tinsley Mortimer’s equally shocking exit from the show earlier this season, and so much more in tonight’s third and final reunion instalment.

The special as a whole marks the first in-person reunion held by a Housewives series since COVID hit, with all participants mandated to stay six feet apart; given these ladies’ penchant for getting in each other’s faces, host Andy Cohen will no doubt have his work cut out for him enforcing that particular rule.

9. American Dad – Thursday, September 24, 7 p.m. & 10 p.m., Much

The deeply underrated cartoon sitcom hits 300 episodes this week. Fittingly enough, they’ll mark the occasion by revisiting one of the show’s longest-running, most beloved gags, as Roger’s jewel-encrusted excrement (y’know, the one that drives anyone who sees it mad with greed?) finally comes back to haunt him.

10. Sneakerheads – Friday, September 25, Netflix | Series Premiere

When a sneaker-loving stay-at-home dad loses $5,000 to his friend’s ill-fated get-rich-quick scheme, he enlists a ragtag crew of fellow “sneakerheads” to join his global hunt for the elusive “Zeroes,” the holy grail of hard-to-find sneakers, in order to get him out of the hole before his wife finds out what he did.
