What to Watch This Week: March 7 to 12

From rap royalty to masked singers, we round up the top 10 shows to watch this week

1. Biggie: I Got a Story to Tell – Netflix

Production on this new doc kicked off in conjunction with the Notorious B.I.G.’s induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020, telling the story of one of hip hop’s most influential artists, whose murder at age 24 back in 1997 (just six months after the murder of fellow rap icon Tupac Shakur) left fans devastated—and wondering what might’ve been.

2. 26th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards – Sunday, March 7, 7 p.m., The CW

The ballots have been cast, the celebs have been invited and now all that’s left is for the trophies to be presented to top achievers in film and TV. Taye Diggs returns to host the audience-free shindig in Santa Monica, joined by a limited number of presenters.

3. Oprah with Meghan and Harry – Sunday, March 7, 8 p.m., Global & CBS

It’s no secret that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have generated their fair share of headlines during the past year, following their unprecedented decision to step away from their royal duties, move to Los Angeles and sue a British tabloid. Here, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will open up like never before in a 90-minute interview with the one-and-only Oprah Winfrey. According to an announcement from CBS, Duchess Meghan will be discussing “everything from stepping into life as a royal, marriage, motherhood, philanthropic work to how she is handling life under intense public pressure.”

4. Good Girls – Sunday, March 7, 10 p.m., NBC | Season Premiere

When season four of this offbeat crime drama arrives, Beth (Christina Hendricks), Annie (Mae Whitman) and Ruby (Retta) are in deeper than ever as they continue their transition from average suburban moms to underworld power players—with the robbery and the counterfeiting and the gunplay! This year, they may have met their match in Dave (guest star Jonathan Silverman), a jaded Secret Service agent who finds himself reinvigorated by the challenge of bringing down the “Good Girls.”

In tonight’s premiere, the body of Lucy, the Girls’ unwitting accomplice who was murdered by Rio in season three, suddenly turns up in a graveyard. Elsewhere, Beth struggles with “red tape” in getting her money-laundering pool and spa biz off the ground, while Annie and Ruby both face parenting conundrums.

5. 63 Up – Tuesday, March 9, BritBox (Stream)

The late Michael Apted (who passed away in January) delivers one last entry in his groundbreaking series of documentaries. Beginning with 1964’s 7 Up, the films have followed British kids from different social backgrounds, starting when they were seven years old and then checking back in with them every seven years to see how their lives have unfolded. As always, Apted explores how much of our adult lives are predetermined by our earliest influences and social status.

6. The Masked Singer – Wednesday, March 10, 8 p.m., CTV & Fox | Season Premiere

After a successful spinoff launch, the original masked singing competition is back for season five, with the usual judging panel plus guest host Niecy Nash taking over for a bit, while Nick Cannon recovers from COVID-19.

7. Grey’s Anatomy – Thursday, March 11, 9 p.m., CTV & ABC

Meredith and friends are back for more high-stakes surgeries, more soapy romance and, as it turns out, more shocking guest star appearances. Series regular Jesse Williams has teased that someone who may be an even bigger bombshell than McDreamy could pop in for a return visit.

8. A Million Little Things – Thursday, March 11, 10:01 p.m., City & ABC

As this bittersweet family drama returns from winter hiatus, many of the characters will be grappling with COVID. That includes Maggie, who has to make a decision on whether to stay abroad in London, and Delilah, whose trip with her dad in France has become… complicated.

9. The One – Friday, March 12, Netflix | Series Premiere

Hannah Ware stars in this new series, set “five minutes in the future,” as the ambitious and impulsive founding CEO of a tech company that has designed a DNA test that allows people to identify their perfect partner. But can true love really be determined by a hair sample or is there more than genetics involved?

10. Paradise P.D. – Friday, March 12, Netflix | Season Premiere

The oft-lowbrow cop cartoon returns for a third shift, offering some groan-worthy gags but a few real knee-slappers too, as young Kevin (David Herman) continues trying to serve and protect from within America’s absolute worst police force.
