From the icons of Motown to the future of the Dark Knight, we round up the top 10 shows to watch this week
Last year, when designer extraordinaire Sarah Richardson endeavoured to build a cottage for her family in the wilds of Creemore, Ontario, that was not exactly convenient for utilities, she decided to build a dream home that was completely self-reliant. That turned into the series Sarah Off the Grid, and it returns for season two this weekend.
But unlike last season, where, let’s face it, she built a stunning and large mansion from the ground up, this time around she’s consciously tackling how the rest of us might take our already-built home and make some changes that allow us to reduce our carbon footprint and be less reliant on the utilities that occasionally make us want to pull our hair out.
From NeNe and Cynthia locking horns, to the women reliving the shenanigans surrounding Eva’s wedding party to the ongoing fallout from their wig-free shindig, this week’s season-ender offers plenty of guilty pleasures to sink your teeth into.
Few record labels could boast of a more distinctive sound than Motown, the Detroit-based label founded by Berry Gordy in 1959 with an $800 loan. Nicknamed Hitsville USA, Motown’s tiny recording studio created some big hits, making musical magic that resulted in some of the most iconic chart-toppers of the 1960s and 1970s while introducing such stars as Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight, Marvin Gaye and more.
In honour of Motown’s 60th anniversary, CBS is presenting a two-hour concert celebrating the label’s timeless music and featuring Motown greats Wonder, Ross, Robinson and Martha Reeves (of Martha and the Vandellas).

Before Cobra Kai premiered last year, all anyone knew about the show was that it was ostensibly a sequel to the original Karate Kid franchise and that the creative team seemingly had their tongues placed squarely in their cheeks, since the premise involved the film’s villain Johnny Lawrence (Billy Zabka) still trying to redeem himself and rebuild his self-esteem after being beaten by Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) 30 years ago. And while that certainly proved to be the case, critics were pleasantly surprised by the unexpected nuance and depth with which the show invested its characters, charting a genuinely compelling new chapter for this narrative amidst all the nostalgia.

Supernatural‘s Misha Collins pulled a massive April Fool’s prank on fans when he announced that stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki were exiting the show after this season-14 finale (they’re not). Those who fell for it should be relieved to know the entire cast is intact and will be back when the long-running series returns in the fall with season 15, which was recently confirmed to be its last—so buckle up for what promises to be a thrilling penultimate season finale.
It’s end of watch for crusading cop Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie), itty-bitty Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) and their battle against Gotham’s eclectic Rogues’ Gallery. And as much as the most intriguing parts of this Batman prequel have come from exploring the other side of the superhero coin, with indelible takes on villains like The Riddler (Cory Michael Smith) and Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), the big draw in tonight’s finale comes from seeing the orphaned boy billionaire finally, officially become the Bat. He’ll do so in an episode set 10 years down the road, as Bruce returns to Gotham for the opening of the new Wayne Tower and ends up embracing his Dark Knight destiny. Perfect timing, too, as Gordon stumbles on a horrifying plot against the city while trying to figure out who framed Bullock for murder.
In this new series, a young heart attack survivor receives a life-giving transplant and becomes consumed by the mystery surrounding her donor heart. As she gets closer to uncovering the truth about her donor’s sudden death, she begins taking on the characteristics of the deceased—some of which are disturbingly sinister.
