Season two of a Crave favourite kicks off with a familiar face from The Good Place
Have you met Darby Carter? Because she’s pretty great. But if you haven’t had the pleasure yet, well, she’s played by Oscar-nominee Anna Kendrick, and she was the lead character in season one of Love Life—the very first smash hit produced by U.S. streamer HBO Max.
Each episode of season one focused on a different love of Darby’s life, as the show slowly crept its way toward her soulmate in the finale. But of course, that was season one… and this, dear readers, is season two, which means it’s time to meet a new love seeker: Marcus Watkins (played by The Good Place‘s William Jackson Harper).
Unlike Darby, who was introduced to viewers as a singleton, when we meet Marcus, the lad is coming out of a long-term relationship with a woman he was convinced he’d spend the rest of his life with. Needless to say, that turns out to be very much not the case. And so it is that viewers are treated to a 10-episode tale of his quest to move on from the one and find his one and only.
The ensemble this year also includes Jessica Williams, Punkie Johnson and Comedian CP, along with recurring guest stars Arian Moayed, Leslie Bibb, John Earl Jelks and Blair Underwood. You’ll also be pleased to learn that Kendrick and some of her season-one co-stars do pop up, but will they be playing the same characters? Only time will tell.
Alas, unlike most streaming series, you won’t be able to binge this one in a day. Thursday only brings the first three episodes, next week brings three more and the following week the final four. But hey, good things come to those who wait!
