9 p.m. & Midnight, Knowledge

After the old DCI Tom Barnaby (John Nettles, who left the long-running U.K. crime drama) leaves Midsomer, his replacement — and cousin — DCI John Barnaby (Neil Dudgeon) arrives and immediately finds himself tackling a murder investigation when a local DJ is found crushed to death at a nearby girls’ boarding school.

NASCAR Racing: 
Sprint Cup — Budweiser Shootout

5 p.m., Fox

Get your motor running, head out on the highway and then park it on the couch to watch race announcer Mike Joy and analysts Larry McReynolds and Darrell Waltrip take viewers through all the ins and outs of the Budweiser Shootout, the first race of the 2012 NASCAR season, broadcast live from Daytona International Speedway.


Merlin

5 p.m., Space

Things become complicated for Merlin as he struggles to protect the entire kingdom of Camelot when wicked Morgana allies herself with a powerful wizard named Alator (Gary Lewis).


Brit Floyd: 
The World’s Greatest Pink Floyd Show

7:30 p.m., WTVS

If you just happen to be too wasted to figure out how to work the remote and change the channel, then you’re probably in the right frame of mind to fully enjoy this televised concert experience in which a cover band plays an assortment of Pink Floyd’s greatest hits.


John Mulaney: 
New in Town

9 p.m., Comedy

In his first stand-up special, John Mulaney, a nerdy comedian who also writes for Saturday Night Live, provides his comic perspective on topics as diverse as french fries, quicksand and an old man he once met in a bathroom.


NCIS: Los Angeles

9 p.m., CBS

After a group of terrorists kill the plastic surgeon who altered their identities, the NCIS team must track down the only witness who knows what their new faces look like.


Austin City Limits

9 p.m., WTVS

Funnyman Steve Martin picks up his banjo for this performance alongside his bluegrass group, The Steep Canyon Rangers, to play selections from Martin’s 2009 CD, The Crow: New Songs for the 5-String Banjo. Also featured: singer-songwriter Sarah Jarosz.
