7 Food and Drink Events Around Vancouver That You’ve Gotta Try This November

Enjoy wine, hearty meat pies, fresh pasta and more this November

In the next few weeks, I plan to gobble up as many seasonal treats as possible, including plenty of cute holiday-themed desserts and drinks. I’ll be hitting up all the oyster happy hours to feast on super-fresh bivalves at their seasonal best, and, of course, shopping small and local for all my holiday gifts. Share the love this season! It’s been a brutal year for most small businesses, so let’s try to keep the folks we love up and running for 2026.

Eat the Aburi Set at Raisu

Pony up to the centre room bar or take a pew out on the covered terrace and inhale eight perfect bites of the most beautiful sushi at Raisu. Delicious, zingingly fresh seafood finished with just the right amount of flame-seared toppings (and no skimping on the Kewpie!) for $23, which, let’s face it, in this economy feels like an absolute steal of a deal.

Pasta Pop-Up!

Cold winter days call for the ultimate in comfort food, and I can’t think of anything I’d rather eat more than Chef Christopher Hyde’s amazing modern Italian. Regular column readers will know I’m a huge fan of La Mano pasta club, so here’s a great chance to catch him cooking for you! Score tickets now to Dachi on November 17 for a La Mano pop-up with five courses served family-style for $70.

A Dinner With Osoyoos Winemakers

It may be gloomy outside, but you can taste the sun when you head to the ever-delicious Belgard Kitchen on November 5 for a taste of Oliver Osoyoos wine country with three of its finest winemakers at a special dinner. Join Val Tait (Gold Hill), Manpreet Dhaliwal (Kismet Estate) and Stefanie Dylla (Domaine Artema) to enjoy a specially paired multi-course feast featuring Gold Hill’s 2022 Sauvignon Blanc, Domaine Artema’s 2022 Gamay Cru, and Kismet Estate’s 2021 Moksha. Tickets are limited and cost $125 plus tax and gratuity per guest.

À la Recherche du Pie Perdu

I was treated to a Savary Island pie over Thanksgiving, and man, it swept me up into a fog of buttery sweet happiness! Maybe you have regular pie dates, but I hadn’t had one for years—and it was amazing. Savary Island has been in business for more than 30 years. That buttery, flaky crust is reason enough to grab one. If you’ve not had a meat pie for a while, you can remedy that today.

Beet Hummus Obsession

Meet my new obsession: Bobali beet hummus. It looks amazing and tastes even better. Gobble your way through a rainbow in the gloom of November. My second obsession: making cute bowls out of red cabbage. You’d think the pink on purple wouldn’t work… but it does.

Road Trip! Whistler Cornucopia Festival

As I write this, liquor store shelves are running empty, bars and restaurants are getting increasingly anxious, and life under the strike is starting to get tough. So, will the Whistler Cornucopia festival go ahead? Festival sommelier and Cornucopia ambassador, Samantha Rahn, says:

“YES! We have wines and spirits and so much more, and amazing culinary experiences to enjoy. Yes, the last many weeks of what were to be final preparations have been beyond challenging, and the seminar presenters, including myself and some of the top speakers and educators in beverage alcohol, are having a heck of a time trying to get products that we need to execute the schedule we had planned. But with everyone’s collective efforts, and the amazing support of many agencies (who haven’t been able to sell any product in over a month and are facing dire circumstances) and our incredible B.C. producers, we are going to have awesome sessions as planned! The BCGEU job action has led to empty shelves, closed government stores and the inability of restaurants and bars to buy anything other than B.C. direct delivery products of any kind. But despite all of that, we have more wineries for our Signature Events, including Cellar Door and the amazing Crush Gala Tasting, than we’ve had in a long time. Please visit whistlercornucopia.com and get your tickets today. Many events are already sold out!”

Cheers to the North Shore

Do you like beer? Jump on the seabus to the North Shore for the Craft Beer Festival, which runs from November 7 for two weeks. There’s a launch party at the Pipe Shop with live music, food trucks and yes, all the beers. There are different events every day showcasing the variety of producers on the North Shore, from breweries, cideries and distillers. Highlights include Viking Night at Braggot Brewing on November 9, which features axe throwing and keg lifting, a game day tailgate rib cookout at Black Kettle Brewing on November 13 and a holiday cocktails and gift basket craft session over at Copperpenny Distilling Co. Visit Vancouver’s North Shore Craft Beer Festival for more.
