Invest in your health and well-being with Sparkling Hill Resort's new healthy weight loss program
Sparkling Hill Resort’s new weight loss program includes spa treatments at KurSpa
Certainly no fat-farm, Sparkling Hill‘s Swarovski-crystal-adorned, family-owned and designed resort has been only around a couple of years, but true to its initial mandate, has kept health at the forefront of its offerings.
The new program does not foolishly promise you’ll drop a waist-size in a week, rather, it is designed to “kick-start healthy and sustainable weight-loss” says Dr. Ray Lendvai, naturopathic doctor on staff at the resort’s KurSpa.
The eight-day program concentrates on three key points – fitness, integrative medicine and nutrition – and each guest receives a personal program tailored to their specific needs.
For the exercise component, expect a mix of cardio, strength training in the Keiser-equipped fitness room, pool jogs, trail walking and yoga classes.

Treatments scheduled in the resort’s KurSpa, which also happens to be Canada’s largest spa, are all part of the detoxifying and integrative medicine aspect.
Aromatherapy steams (my personal favourite was the rose aroma – heavenly) and saunas, exercising in the Kneipp Water therapy pool, and swims in the indoor and outdoor pools are part of the plan, plus spa treatments like the signature cold sauna (-110C/-166F) and the Universal Contour Body Wrap. This wrap is included twice in the program, and uses detoxifying clay to pull impurities and toxins from the body.

Food, as in any weight loss program, is the biggie. “Dr. Ray” as he is called at the spa, provides a custom-designed healthy menu for each guest. Expect meals with lean protein, lots of vegetables, whole-grain carbs like brown rice and plenty of cleansing teas and filtered water to flush your system.
Programs like this don’t come cheap anywhere in the world, but considering most involve jetting off to Europe, skipping the airfare certainly will save you a bundle. Plus, Vernon’s a driveable destination for most BC residents.
This program includes seven nights’ accommodation at the resort, three meals per day, wireless Internet and valet parking. It costs $2,900 for single occupancy and $2,500 for double occupancy before tax and gratuity.
Investing in your health isn’t the craziest idea, is it?
